- Course Content:
- Parents will discuss issues related to instructional
- technology, what their role is in the integration of
- technology into the curriculum, and how they can impact
- their child’s academic achievement. In addition to
- serving as a forum for discussion of technology-related
- issues, parents will have the opportunity to work with
- MacIntosh-based software applications--word processing,
- spreadsheet/graphing, hypermedia--and have hands-on
- training on MacIntosh computers. On completion of the
- class, parents will have made their own HyperStudio stack
- and completed at least 90% of the technology checklist.

- Materials:
- Software that will be used includes the following:
- Word Processing: Bilingual Writing Center
- Spreadsheet/Graphing: LabQuest, The Graph Club
- Hypermedia/Database: HyperStudio
- Various CD-ROM titles such as How a Computer Works.

- Hardware that will be used includes the following:
- MacIntosh Computers LC series (I,II,III)
- MacIntosh LC 520s,575s
- Apple One Color Scanner (Black and Color)
- CD-ROM players.
- Dot Matrix and Deskjet Printers.

- Class Expectations:
- Although this class is provided at no cost to you, as instructors we expect you to make the following commitments to us:

- 1. Weekly attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays,
- 6:00-8:00 pm. If you are going to miss a class,
- please call and let us know.

- 2. Provide your own floppy disks to save data and information. At least
- four 3.5 inch high density disks are needed for the class, although
- we suggest a box of ten.

- 3. Complete homework assignments and come to class prepared.

- 4. Be willing to participate enthusiastically in everything you do.
