  9. Course Content:  
  10.         Parents will discuss issues related to instructional
  11.         technology,  what their role is in the integration of
  12.         technology into the curriculum, and how they can impact
  13.         their child‚Äôs academic achievement.  In addition to
  14.         serving as a forum for discussion of technology-related
  15.         issues, parents will have the opportunity to work with
  16.         MacIntosh-based software applications--word processing,
  17.         spreadsheet/graphing, hypermedia--and have hands-on
  18.         training on MacIntosh computers.  On completion of the
  19.         class, parents will have made their own HyperStudio stack
  20.         and completed at least 90% of the technology checklist.

  22. Materials:    
  23.         Software that will be used includes the following:
  24.         Word Processing: Bilingual Writing Center     
  25.                 Spreadsheet/Graphing: LabQuest, The Graph Club
  26.         Hypermedia/Database: HyperStudio
  27.         Various CD-ROM titles such as How a Computer Works.
  28.  
  29.         Hardware that will be used includes the following:
  30.         MacIntosh Computers LC series (I,II,III)
  31.         MacIntosh LC 520s,575s
  32.         Apple One Color Scanner (Black and Color)
  33.         CD-ROM players.
  34.         Dot Matrix and Deskjet Printers.

  36. Class Expectations:
  37.         Although this class is provided at no cost to you,  as instructors we expect you to         make the following commitments to us:

  39.             1. Weekly attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 
  40.                 6:00-8:00 pm.  If you are going to miss a class,
  41.                 please call and let us know.
  42.  
  43.             2.  Provide your own floppy disks to save data and information.  At least
  44.                 four 3.5 inch high density disks are needed for the class, although
  45.                 we suggest a box of ten. 
  46.  
  47.             3.  Complete homework assignments and come to class prepared.
  48.  
  49.             4.  Be willing to participate enthusiastically in everything you do.
